LAS Links is an online assessment provided to all 1st - 12th grade learners that indicated a language other than English on their Home Language Survey.
The LAS Links Instructional Strategies are designed to assist educators as they work with English and Spanish language learners.
Each strategy is easily accessible on the web and is designed to supplement content area instruction already in place in diverse academic classrooms.
The stronger the background knowledge, the more effectively a student will engage in new learning. Participants will explore ways to infuse the English Language Proficiency Standards (ELPS) into content instruction while building their background knowledge through linguistically accommodated learning activities. Such best practices help scaffold learning experiences that build the foundation for higher-order thinking skills in students’ first and second languages.
